Nairobi, 26 November 2026 – Kenya is taking bold steps to safeguard the safety and quality of all health products in the country. Speaking during a visit by the Ministry of Health leadership, led by Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale, the Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, emphasised the urgent need to strengthen regulatory enforcement and fast-track Kenyaโ€™s journey to World Health Organization (WHO) Maturity Level 3.

Ms. Muthoni highlighted the importance of enhanced regulatory vigilance, stressing strict adherence to the law, proactive market surveillance, and firm measures to ensure that only safe, high-quality health products reach Kenyans.

She further underscored compliance with critical standards, including bioequivalence, proper licensing practices, and timely product registration, noting that these safeguards not only protect patients but also support the growth of local pharmaceutical manufacturing and Kenyaโ€™s ambition to become a regional hub for medicines and vaccines.
