Nairobi, Kenya – The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) today held a high-level meeting with a delegation from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to strengthen collaboration on strategic trade controls, cross-border regulation, and the fight against drug-related crimes. The meeting also brought together representatives from the Port Control Units of Mombasa (Kenya), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).

Speaking on behalf of the Ag. Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ahmed Mohamed, the Director of Corporate Services, Dr Anthony Toroitich, said the engagement provides an opportunity for deeper understanding of each countryโ€™s regulatory frameworks and operational processes, fostering regional cooperation in pharmaceutical regulation and trade control.

Dr Toroitich highlighted the importance of collaborative approaches in combating drug-related crimes, enhancing regional security, and promoting public health through effective regulation of high-risk pharmaceutical products.

He reaffirmed PPBโ€™s commitment to safeguarding public health by ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of pharmaceutical products in line with international standards.
