Nairobi, Kenya – The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) on 14 October 2025 hosted a delegation from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), led by the UNFPA Representative to Kenya, Mr. Anders Thomsen, to explore areas of collaboration and technical support in strengthening reproductive health services.
UNFPA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kenyaโs efforts to ensure the availability, accessibility, and affordability of reproductive health commodities, highlighting ongoing partnerships with the Ministry of Health to enhance supply chains and promote cost-sharing mechanisms in service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the Ag. CEO, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed, the Director of Corporate Services, Dr. Anthony Toroitich, reiterated PPBโs commitment to safeguarding the quality, safety, and efficacy of health products and technologies in Kenya.
โPPB remains dedicated to ensuring that every Kenyan has access to safe and quality-assured medical products. We welcome UNFPAโs support in integrating our regulatory systems with government platforms to streamline submissions and approvals, ultimately promoting faster access to essential medicines,โ said Dr. Toroitich.
Mr. Thomsen commended PPBโs pivotal role in facilitating access to reproductive health commodities through timely approvals and regulatory oversight, noting that UNFPA values the Boardโs contribution to Kenyaโs health system and its impact on the efficient use of donor resources.
Dr. Toroitich further emphasized PPBโs readiness to collaborate with all stakeholders, including UN agencies, in advancing Kenyaโs Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda and ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare for all.
