𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐌𝐑 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Nairobi, Kenya – The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) today hosted the Malawian Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Coordinating Committee, alongside representatives from the Kenya National Public Health Institute (KNHPI) and the East, Central and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC) on 21st August 2025.
Led by Dr. Emmanuel Tanui from KNHPI, the delegation sought to learn how Kenya’s Surveillance System for Antimicrobial Consumption (KESAC) is helping tackle the challenges of AMR. The visit focused on Kenya’s AMR surveillance and stewardship strategies, with the aim of boosting multisectoral governance, cross-country learning, and regional collaboration.
Hosting the delegation on behalf of PPB CEO Dr. F. M. Siyoi, Chief Principal Regulatory Officer Dr. Ali Arale underscored the importance of monitoring antimicrobial consumption to curb the rising threat of AMR. He welcomed regional cooperation as key to protecting public health.
