Nairobi Kenya – The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) on September 8, 2025 hosted the Somali Medicines Regulatory Authority for discussions on strengthening collaboration in key priority areas. The engagement focused on the listing of health products and technologies, licensing, import control, market surveillance, and capacity building.

The delegation was received by Dr. Anthony Toroitich, Director of Corporate Services, on behalf of PPB CEO Dr. F. M. Siyoi.

PPB has been providing technical support to the Somali Medicines Regulatory Authority, underscoring the importance of regional cooperation in advancing medicines regulation.

The Somali delegation included Farah Sharawe โ€“ Director, Somalia Interim NMRA; Mukhtar Shube โ€“ Director of Public Health, Federal Ministry of Health; Anisa Hassan โ€“ Regulatory Officer, NMRA; Farhan Bashir โ€“ WHO Somalia Country Office Representative; Abdullahi Omar โ€“ Regulatory Officer, NMRA; and Shafie Ali โ€“ Communication Officer, Ministry of Health.
