PPB Strengthens Pharmacovigilance and Maternal Immunisation Safety Surveillance

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) convened a stakeholder meeting in Machakos, bringing together County Pharmacovigilance Focal Persons and representatives from Kenyatta National Hospital and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to strengthen pharmacovigilance activities across the country.
The meeting focused on improving patient safety and enhancing maternal immunisation safety surveillance through strengthened monitoring and reporting systems. Participants were sensitised on measures to support the effective implementation of pharmacovigilance activities at the county level.
PPB reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with County Pharmacovigilance Focal Persons to ensure effective coordination and implementation of these activities. The collaboration is critical to maintaining the quality, safety and efficacy of health products and technologies and safeguarding public health.
The Board also recognised Pharmacovigilance Focal Persons from Samburu, Kilifi, Nakuru, Meru, Siaya and Nyeri counties, as well as Kenyatta National Hospital, for improved reporting performance.
