PPB Validates Good Pharmacy Practice Baseline Survey Report

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), in collaboration with county pharmacists, inSupply Health, URADCA, the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), the Kenya Pharmaceutical Association (KPA), and other stakeholders, validated the Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) Baseline Survey Report on 30 May 2026.
The survey, conducted across 43 counties and more than 600 health facilities, provides a comprehensive assessment of pharmacy workforce capacity, infrastructure, service delivery, and compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice standards across the country.
The findings are expected to inform evidence-based regulatory and policy reforms, strengthen pharmacy workforce development, enhance infrastructure and patient safety, and guide updates to GPP guidelines and professional standards. The report will also support Kenya’s efforts towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and Sustainable Development Goal 3 on good health and well-being.
Stakeholders noted that the survey establishes an important benchmark for strengthening pharmaceutical services and promoting quality, safe, and patient-centred care across the health system.
The next phase will involve the launch of the final report and implementation of county-specific action plans to address identified gaps and advance pharmacy practice nationwide.
