Invitation for Input on Revised Fees for Regulatory Services Under the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap 244)

The Pharmacy and Poisons Board ("the Board"), in execution of its statutory mandate, seeks to enhance its regulatory status by attaining the World Health Organization (WHO) categorization of Maturity Level 3 (ML.3) in line with the WHO Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT). An onsite WHO assessment of the Board conducted in June 2022 identified various strengths, gaps and areas for improving the Board's regulatory system. This has resulted in revision of fees levied for regulatory services and updating of the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (244) to ensure alignment with current best practices under the WHO-GBT.

In view of the above, the Board wishes to inform you of the intention to revise the Pharmacy and Poisons Act (Cap. 244) through the Pharmacy and Poisons (Amendment) Bill, 2023. This forthcoming legislative amendments are aimed at strengthening the regulatory framework with a view to achieving the WHO ML.3.
