PPB Unveils 2024 Pharmacovigilance Systems Assessment Findings, Highlighting Progress and Challenges
Nairobi, October 9, 2024 – The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) presented the findings of the 2024 Pharmacovigilance Systems Assessment on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. This assessment, conducted in collaboration with IGAD, EAC, and supported by MTaPS, covered health facilities, Marketing Authorization Holders, and Public Health Programs. It showed notable progress in monitoring the safety of health products but identified ongoing challenges such as underreporting of adverse events and resource constraints. Stakeholders pledged their commitment to strengthening capacity building, improving reporting mechanisms, and enhancing collaboration with PPB’s National Pharmacovigilance Centre to safeguard public health.
