Strengthening Risk Communication for Patient Safety – 9th February 2024
Machakos, Kenya – In a bid to bolster patient safety and transparency in healthcare, the Pharmacy & Poisons Board (PPB) spearheaded a pivotal workshop in Machakos County from February 5th to 9th, 2024. The workshop, organized by the Department of Product Safety in collaboration with the Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program, focused on enhancing risk communication within the healthcare sector.
Led by Dr. Anthony Toroitich, the Product Safety Lead, the event aimed to develop a robust National Pharmacovigilance Risk Communication and Response Plan. Dr. Toroitich expressed gratitude to the MTaPS Program and county representatives for their invaluable contributions, emphasizing the significance of effective risk communication in meeting WHO Global Benchmarking Tool (GBT) Level 3 standards.
The finalized plan represents a significant stride towards prioritizing patient safety and ensuring transparent, efficient, and responsive healthcare communication. This initiative underscores the commitment of the PPB to address healthcare challenges and enhance the overall quality of patient care.
