The Clinical Research Society of Kenya (CRSK), led by Prof. Walter Jaoko, on Tuesday, 21 July 2026, held an introductory meeting with officials from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) to discuss strategic collaboration opportunities and explore ways of making Kenya the most competitive destination for conducting clinical trials in the region and globally.

The meeting, chaired by Dr. Wilfred Ochieng, Director of Pharmacy Practice, on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ahmed Mohamed, focused on the bottlenecks and opportunities affecting competitiveness, including timelines for site initiation and the proposed parallel review framework.

The two teams unanimously agreed to hold periodic engagements to strengthen collaboration and position Kenya as a centre of excellence for clinical trials oversight while enhancing the country’s clinical research ecosystem.
