NAIROBI, 31 August 2026 — The Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) highlighted its role in safeguarding the quality, safety and efficacy of traditional medicine products during the 2026 African Traditional Medicine Day celebrations held at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI).

The event, presided over by Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale, was held under the theme, “Strengthening African Traditional Medicine through Research, Regulation and Integration for Universal Health Coverage.”

The commemoration brought together stakeholders to promote research, evidence generation, effective regulation and the responsible integration of traditional medicine into the healthcare system.

CS Duale visited the PPB exhibition stand, where the Board showcased its regulatory mandate in ensuring that health products available to the public meet the required standards of quality, safety and efficacy.

The Cabinet Secretary underscored the importance of strong regulatory systems in advancing safe, evidence-informed traditional medicine and supporting its responsible integration into Kenya’s healthcare system.

PPB’s participation reaffirmed the importance of regulation in protecting public health while supporting research and innovation in traditional medicine.
